Here we compares the latest tablets -Micromax Funbook, HCL ME Tablet U1 and Aakash 2 for its users:
1. Operating System : While both Micromax Funbook and HCL ME U1 ship with an Android 4.0.3
Ice Cream Sandwich OS,
2. Processor : While the Funbook, ME U1 and Aakash 2 are powered by a similar Cortex A8 processor, they are clocked at varying frequencies of 1.2GHz, 1GHz and 700MHz respectively.
While the Funbook apparently seems to be the fastest on the basis of its frequency, it is even known to be backed by a Dual Mali 400 2D/3D GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) making it possibly the most efficient out of the three.
3. Display : All the three low-cost tablets carry the same sized 7-inches touchscreen display and a similar resolution of 800x480 display, they also sport a similar display technology of multi-touch capacitive display.
While Aakash 2 is expected to move on from resistive to capacitive display too, Micromax Funbook may however have the upper hand here with an add-on benefit of 2-Finger Pinch zoom, while the ME U1 apparently has the best touchscreen accuracy precision in the range of low-cost tablets.
4. Memory : Aakash 2 is to come with a combination of 256MB of RAM and 2GB of storage expandable to 32GB, the other two tablets seem like a better bet here as they provide 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal memory expandable to 32GB.
5. Camera : While we know that both Funbook and ME U1 sport a 0.3-megapixel snapper, there isn’t much confirmation on the camera that will feature on the Aakash 2. However, reports do indicate that it may feature a VGA cam too, and may have the benefit of both front and back facing cameras.
6. Battery : Aakash 2 takes a beating from ME U1 owing to its 3200mAh battery as opposed to the latter’s more powerful powerhouse of 3600mAh. However Funbook may be the worst choice here as it sports a mere 2800mAh battery.
7. Connectivity : While Aakash 2 is expected to come with Wi-Fi, SIM support and a USB port, the ME U1 comes with both USB and mini USB ports in addition to support of Bluetooth and 3G. While the ME U1 lacks the HDMI port facility, the Funbook on the other hand carries a Wi-Fi, USB and HDMI facility and misses the mini USB port.
8. Price : The Funbook is available for Rs 6,499 and the ME U1 is priced at Rs 7,999. Although there is no confirmation on the pricing of Aakash 2 yet, the reports indicate a probable price tag of about Rs 3,000.
